Zac - Texas A&M (-13.5) -205 odds (-145 at time of posting) at Mississippi State
If there is a way to be optimistic at 1-5, Bulldog fans have figured out how to do it. Michael Van Buren found some success last week against Georgia and appears to be growing in confidence quickly. That’s great and all, but he hasn’t met the blanket yet. Saturday will be a prime example of something we like to call “regression toward the mean”. Elko and this Aggie defense will cause some issues for the freshman quarterback and I don’t foresee another 300 yard, 3 TD performance. On the other side of the ball, Le’veon Moss continues to be a stellar all-around back and the wide receiver room is steadily improving. Take the Ags, and just to tickle you a bit, here’s my score prediction: 34-14. I’ll provide my Venmo next week when that hits.
Anonymous Aggie - Georgia (+5) -130 odds at Texas
November 7th 2020. That was the last time Georgia lost to a team not named Alabama. That was also 4 days after Joe Biden won the election fair and square. Oh what I would do to have my beautiful king in office still. Yes Georgia has looked shaky and UT has been dominant so far, but I think Georgia’s strength of schedule up to this point compared to Texas’ will ultimately favor them. Carson Beck is putting up monster numbers and Kirby knows he gets a second crack to show out in prime time. UT might win, but it won't be by 5 or more.
Peyton - Aidan Chiles over 0.5 INT -150 odds vs Iowa
I quickly learned my lesson with this kid. Before Michigan State’s Week 1 matchup, Aidan looked a reporter right in the eyes and confidently told him to bet the over. He proceeded to go 10/24 for 114 yards and 2 interceptions… against FAU. Take a guess how that bet ended up?
At the end of the day, it’s a 19 year old who I wish the best for, but through 5 games, Mr. Chiles has thrown 8 interceptions. Iowa comes into town and if there is one thing they’re known for, it is a superb defense. Fresh off a dominant victory over Washington, look for the Hawkeyes to rattle this young quarterback and cause some turnovers.
Guest Picker: Kincade Kids - South Carolina (+2.5) -130 odds at Oklahoma
South Carolina is 2 plays away from boasting a 5-1 record that would include signature wins over LSU and Alabama. We can “what if” all we want, but the moral of the story is that the Gamecocks have the ability to be a scary team. Oklahoma is staring down the barrel of starting 1-3 in conference play, something that has only been done once by the Sooners in the last 20+ years. Welcome to the SEC. If OU’s offense doesn’t find some rhythm (13 points per game over the previous 3 games), Venables' seat will be getting steamy. Do we typically trust betting on the mid-tier SEC teams? No, but South Carolina has shown thus far that they don’t back down from a dog fight. Look for things to get messy in Norman and for the Cocks to cover.
